Can you please introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your musical journey and background?
My name is Riley Wheater. I grew up in the arts my whole life. I started off as a dancer, and I did that for 10 years, but stopped to focus more on my music because I realized that was my true passion. I started singing from the age of 7, and have been singing ever since. I used to do all plays and talent shows as well in my community just constantly finding any chance to be on stage. I am a huge family girl, and thankfully my family has been big supporters and have been amazing with helping me with my music.
Who are some of your biggest musical influences, and how have they shaped your sound and style?
I am a huge fan of Miley Cyrus and Carrie Underwood. I love how they always change up their style for themselves, and do what they want, and it shows me that I can sing how I want, and it helped me to find my voice.
Can you share a specific artist or album that has had a significant impact on your music?
One of my favorite albums would have to be Miley Cyrus’ most recent one. I love the vibe of it, and how there is a little bit of everything, and it really tells a story.
What’s your creative process like when you’re composing or writing a new song?
Well done throughout my day if I have an idea come to mind then I always make sure to jot it down. Then when I sit down to write I go back to that idea and try to create something from it. I do personally like writing with others because you can bounce ideas off of each other.
Among all the songs you’ve created, do you have a personal favorite? If so, what makes it special to you?
I really love my most recent song I just put out called Heart Around It. I think the story is so beautiful and lots of people could connect with it. I can’t wait for everyone to hear the others
Can you share the story or inspiration behind that particular song?
One of the other co-writers came up with the idea, and I loved it, and from there on I used my own experiences to help write the song with them and make it more personal.
Let’s talk about your latest song. What’s the title, and what’s the story or message behind it?
My latest new song is called Heart Around It. It is about being so heartbroken that the thought of love does not make sense to you anymore and you can’t put your heart around it, and how you hope that in time you can.
Share a memorable or unique experience from one of your live performances.
One of my favorite live performances was for Honey Jam at the Mod Club. It was a night I will never forget, and such a great experience to be a part of.
Beyond music, do you have any hobbies or interests that you’re passionate about? How do they influence your music?
Other than music I like to spend my time hanging with my family and friends. I also love to workout a lot, and I find it helps me if I ever get stressed out.
Is there a dream collaboration you’d like to pursue in the future?
There are honestly so many amazing artists I would love to work with but if I have to choose I’d say I’d definitely love to collaborate with Miley Cyrus or Lainey Wilson.
Advice for Aspiring Musicians
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians who are just starting their journey in the music industry?
I would have to say don’t give up, and give it time. As long as you put the work in you will see the results you want.

I have some more exciting songs coming out soon, and I can’t wait. These songs really tell some beautiful stories and I can’t wait to share them.
