All Eyes on Chris Weaver

Can you please introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your musical journey and background?

I’m Chris Weaver, the lead of the Chris Weaver Band. My musical journey began in West Virginia, where I was surrounded by a mix of American rock, blues, and country. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to travel and perform in various parts of the world, including a significant stint in Brazil, which has added a unique flavor to my music.

Who are some of your biggest musical influences, and how have they shaped your sound and style?

My sound has been influenced by a blend of classic rock, country, and blues. Artists like Tom Petty, James Taylor, and even some Brazilian musicians have played a role in shaping my style.

Can you share a specific artist or album that has had a significant impact on your music?

Tom Petty’s albums, especially « Wildflowers, » have been a significant influence. The raw emotion and storytelling in his songs resonate with me deeply.

What’s your creative process like when you’re composing or writing a new song?

My creative process is a blend of introspection and observation. I often start with a feeling or a moment that has left an impression on me. Sometimes it’s a personal experience, other times it’s a story I’ve heard or something I’ve witnessed. I like to sit with my guitar, let the chords flow, and see where they take me. Lyrics usually come next, often starting as fragmented thoughts or phrases that I jot down. Over time, these fragments evolve, intertwining with the melody until a complete song emerges. It’s a journey of discovery, where I’m not just creating a song, but also uncovering a part of myself or a perspective I hadn’t seen before.

Among all the songs you’ve created, do you have a personal favorite? If so, what makes it special to you?

One song that always resonates with me, no matter when I hear it, is « Night Moves » by Bob Seger. There’s something timeless about it that I can’t get enough of, and playing it is always a joy. As for my own creations, « California High » holds a special place in my heart. It’s one of those tracks where the imagery and emotions came together perfectly. The vividness of its lyrics makes it stand out, and it’s a testament to the kind of storytelling I aim for in my music.

Let’s talk about your latest song. What’s the title, and what’s the story or message behind it?

My latest song is titled « Fastcar Days. » It’s a nostalgic piece that delves into the reminiscence of the good old days, capturing the essence of youth, freedom, and the thrill of life in the fast lane. The song holds a special place for me, not just because of its lyrical depth, but also because it marked a significant milestone in my career. We recently wrapped up our first music video in over four years for « Fastcar Days, » and it was an incredible experience. We had the privilege of featuring NASCAR’s Michael Waltrip in the video, filming it at his bar in Concord, NC. The video offers a retrospective look at Michael’s life and illustrious career, which beautifully complements the song’s theme. It’s a blend of music, memories, and the love for the open road.

Share a memorable or unique experience from one of your live performances.

Every live show is a unique experience, but there’s one performance in Brazil that truly stands out. The energy from the crowd was electric, and there was this unforgettable moment when thousands in the audience started singing along to one of my songs. It was unexpected and deeply touching. Hearing those voices, from a place so far from home, echoing the lyrics back was a powerful reminder of music’s ability to connect people across cultures and distances. It’s a memory I hold close to my heart.

Beyond music, do you have any hobbies or interests that you’re passionate about? How do they influence your music?

Beyond my love for music, I’m really into traveling and exploring new places. There’s something special about experiencing different cultures and sceneries. Another thing I enjoy is eating out. I’m always on the lookout for cool restaurants to try. It’s not just about the food, but the whole experience of being in a new place with different vibes. And, maybe it’s a bit unusual, but I genuinely like cleaning and organizing. It’s a way for me to relax and feel accomplished.

Is there a dream collaboration you’d like to pursue in the future?

Collaborating in music often brings unexpected and exciting results. It introduces new perspectives and unique sounds that can transform a song entirely. I’ve been fortunate to work alongside some incredibly talented individuals. However, given the chance, I’d be thrilled to collaborate with legends like Bruce Springsteen or contemporary artists like Chris Stapleton. Their authentic energy and storytelling skills have always inspired me, and I think a collaboration would be a remarkable experience.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians who are just starting their journey in the music industry?

To those just starting out in the music industry, my advice is simple: Stay true to yourself and your sound. The industry can be overwhelming, with many voices telling you what to do or how to be. But remember, your uniqueness is your strength. Practice regularly, be open to feedback, and never stop learning. Surround yourself with positive influences and people who genuinely support your vision. And most importantly, enjoy the journey. Every high and low is a part of your story, and it’s the passion and perseverance that will set you apart.

Can you give us a sneak peek into any upcoming projects or new music you have in the works? What can your fans and listeners look forward to from you in the near future?
